who is rxs…

experience the vibrant and spontaneous creations of rXs ART, where art comes alive on canvas without inhibitions or constraints.

because I very much believe art is alive (even after it dries), I don’t plan, map, discuss or otherwise get in the way of what I feel and hear.

this often means I break “orthodoxy” to get at what resonates with me.

I play music to set a tone, I intuit a palette, mix shades until I stop, then I listen for what the art has to say.

as I lay paint, metal, pipe, paper… it’s an ongoing, ever-evolving exchange. nothing is sacred except the end result. much more than contemporary, it’s living abstract in the realest sense.

what is Living Abstract™?

living abstract refers to the dynamic, “alive” nature of the paintings. each piece flirts with light, texture, design + finish in ways that cause it to shapeshift. from sunrise to sunset, the view changes, depending on when and how experienced. (head’s up if you’re moody.)

the intention is to energetically engage you. I believe art should arouse your senses + stir the waters of your own emotional state.
so when you get lost in a reflection of a piece, you feel yourself both move and moved. this is why I create only in a space of joy, peace + vitality.

without a traditional “this side up,” each painting can and should be experienced from all angles. you decide what most powerfully resonates. and that might shift from day to day. it’s art. there’s no wrong way.

part-landscape, part-abstract, rxs’ work incorporates canvas, acrylic, paper, metal dust and steel, etc., to give each piece a somewhat-industrial feel. often, other paintings, pieces of furniture or random objects are used as “frames,” “backgrounds” or “mats” behind the focus work. this technique disrupts the eye + creates an even more dynamic user experience.
